Hey all. I claimed my OTP (Paul Kariya/Teemu Selanne) approximately forever a few weeks ago, and then my life got interesting and I haven't had time to post my introduction until now. So, sorry for the delay. :)

Most people into hockey have heard about Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne. Back in the mid to late '90s, the two of them played together in Anaheim and were a lethal combination on the ice. This video compares them to the Oilers of the '80s.

And, of course, requisite slashy pictures. Hee.

They also had a bunch of great chemistry off the ice, becoming pretty close friends.

Paul is holding one of Teemu's sons here.

After playing about five seasons together in Anaheim, Teemu was traded to the San Jose Sharks (in 2001). *insert sadface*

Two seasons later, Paul led the Ducks all the way to game seven of the Stanley Cup finals, where they lost to New Jersey. *more sadfaces*

The very next season, both as free agents, Paul and Teemu signed with the Colorado Avalanche. Paul took a substantial pay cut (he went from making about $10 million a year to $1.2 million) to be able to play with Teemu again.

Unfortunately, the two were unable to rekindle the on-ice magic from before. Teemu had been suffering for some time from troubles with his left knee, and Paul was injury ridden the entire season. The NHL was locked out the entirety of the next season, and once it the 2005-2006 season started, Paul ended up signing with Nashville, and Teemu back in Anaheim.

Still, with both players in the Western Conference, it was a big deal each of the four times a season they faced each other. Interviews (like the following) were the norm, still asking them to revisit their glory days.

These two guys have been my OTP for ages, but I have never seemed to be able to write about them. I thought joining this community with them as my claim would help me overcome that. I have a lot of ideas about them in my head, but none of it has made its way to paper, so to speak. I hope to use these challenges as a way to develop the relationship I've been imagining between these two forever.

It won't hurt, that's for sure. I'm trying so hard to do this beach challenge, dammit. I will finish it! Even if it kills me!

God we're in Anaheim right now and all I can think about are Paul/Teemu. I wonder if they ever stopped at the convenience store we stopped by, drove down Harbor Blvd...sigh. I miss them together. Hee!

Oh man, I bet. I always thought of them together when I was there, too. I was hoping that the rumor that Teemu was thinking about playing in St. Louis was true. I just want them back together, too. I think I'll really be able to write them, once I get something done. I really want to write those two.

Oh god Teemu. Go play in St. Louis with Paul. Please! If he does, we should vow to road trip out to St. Louis to stalk watch them play.

Dude, yes. I'm all over that plan. Like whoa.

Also... Maybe you can help me out of my writers block. The beach story: porn or something romantic and schmoopy?

Well, you can never go wrong with porn, ever! And the thought of the two of them...umm....yeah.

Although, if you think you'll really be able to write them a lot, set us up with a romantic fic first to set the tone. That was my first thought.

But, Teemu/Paul porn. Yeah. You and your creative porn would be awesome.

Sorry, that probably didn't help much, did it?

Hehe, actually, it did. The thing I was writing could go either way, so what I can do is let it be shorter and romantic, but allude to porn. I'm sure I'll have opportunities to write the two of them having sex at least once or twice. ;)

So, thank you! :D

Oh, yes! Perfect! It's always easier to write if you know you can make it short, I think.

Once or twice or many, many times :)

That's very true. I always try to write forever, which is sometimes a bad thing.

I think I'll go with many. Hee!
